The One-Sentence Meeting Test

If you cannot explain why a meeting exists in one sentence, the meeting probably needs a clearer purpose.

01

The idea

A meeting should have a job. Before scheduling one, define the decision, alignment, or work it must accomplish. If you cannot state that job clearly, email, a document, or a quick message may be better.

02

Why it matters

Clear purpose protects everyone’s calendar and makes participation more intentional.

03

Try this today

Before your next meeting, write its purpose in one sentence and put that sentence in the invite.
